News from Friar Felix Mary (fka Bryan O'Donnell) Go ahead and read on!
APRIL 2013
AVE MARIA,
All is well here at the friary. Everyone of the novices (5), including myself, continue to persevere in their vocations. Three are preparing their passports to go to Italy and begin studies for the priesthood. Please keep them in your prayers, Fra Charles, Fra Gabriele, and Fra Thomas. Fra Eugenio and I will be brothers, awaiting assignment, most likely sometime in the fall to be missionaries for the Immaculate.
We have made the transition to the Latin Mass and breviary at the novitiate house, bringing with it a more rigorous prayer schedule, but everyone is pleased with the decision. Already we are picking up the language, understanding more and more as time goes along. I imagine in a few years we'll have many of the psalms memorized. What a beautiful gift to be able to pray all 150 psalms every week. How I love the Word of God! May it begin to permeate my entire being.
The apostolate has been very active with pro-life work, door-to-door evangelizing, talking at retreats. Recently I prepared a talk on Fatima, although I wasn't able to speak as long as first anticipated, I'll still be able to use the material for future talks. Brother Gabriele and I teach the boys catechism once a month. They are amazing boys, many of whom probably have vocations. Hopefully I'll be serving their Mass someday.
I did my best to keep a strict Lent in the spirit of St. Francis, to purify myself of many faults. Also to win graces for those entrusted to my prayer. St. Therese was my guide for all insight came from her as she let me know how blessed I am to have her as my special patronness. I've taken to praying a chaplet in her honor, 24 Glory Be's "St. Therese pray for our missions." I found a great book on how she taught the novices, "The Spiritual Realism of St. Therese", Bruce publishing. Father Ignatius gave me permission to inquire about promoting vocations to our institute, especially with Fr. Lutz since he is getting many vocations with many looking for a solid order. I'm sending these pamphlets to see if you'll ask him to display them at Holy Family or anywhere else you see fit. It is so close to Bloomington that many could make a day visit to try out our life.
I just finished a biography of Solanus Casey who read Venerable Mary of Agreda's "Mystical City of God" three times on his knees? On his death bed, he would have the sisters in the hospital read from this book. As you know this is my favorite material on which to meditate now going through the series for a second time. Actually for Lent, my goal was to focus on other material, this being the first time in three years that the "Mystical City of God" wasn't part of my weekly reading. Thanks be to God that I'm back to my "meat and potatoes!"
May the Immaculate rest in your hearts to give worthy praise to our Eucharistic Lord.

Mary Hodgson, from our group, to begin formation to become a Consecrated Virgin
Mary is at the left most.
Mary would like to share her big news everyone!
Mary was recently accepted by Bishop Frederick Campbell, DD to begin formation to become a Consecrated Virgin for the Diocese of Columbus.
Many of you may ask what is a Consecrated Virgin?
Shortest and easiest answer is that is what nuns were before there where religious orders.
Please pray for Mary as she will be continuing her studies to become a Secular Carmelite and adding studies to become a Consecrated Virgin. She would like all of you know that you are in her prayers.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thank you to all who contributed their time and talent at May 4, 2013's Service Saturday event with Catholic Social Services
On behalf of Stephanie Jurasek and the Catholic Social Services Foundation, I would like to thank everybody in the group that participated at this past Saturday's Service Saturday. Although not everybody worked in the same project, I have noted everybody that was present at St. Margaret of Cortona yesterday morning.
Crystal B, Damion F, Kurai M, Rachel S, Aaron T, Heather F, Kevin K, Jonathan, and Jennifer S
This is the largest number I have seen that we have participated individually or as a group! I am truly proud of this great group and its achievements and its commitment to charitable works!
We made a difference to our brothers and sisters in Christ! We live out the Gospel after mass! We brought Christ to our neighbor! I am proud of your active and dedicated participation!
Always thankful for all that you do,
J.P. Pacis

Thank you for continued dedication at our First Friday Mass and Eucharistic Adoration!
I am happy to announce that we have constantly have had at least 5 members at our First Friday Mass devotions at Holy Cross for the past 9 months! So far, we have had as much as 9 members at a First Friday Mass/Eucharistic Adoration at a time.
Your continued presence in the First Friday Mass has definitely renewed the faith of a lot of the people at the regular First Friday Mass. Our attendance has meant a whole lot to the whole community and especially to the Eucharistic Adorers who have led this tradition since its inception in the 1960s. Remember, we are part of a community of believers, as Fr. Richard Gross, SJ mentioned at the 2nd Pillar of Our Catholic Faith talk last month at Ohio Dominican University.
Remember what Fr. Mon Owera, CFIC mentioned at the First Friday last November 2012, "Why wait till the last minute to prepare our souls before we meet Our Lord? Why not do it at every time the Sacrament (of Reconciliation) is available to us?"
May the Holy Trinity continue to guide us and sanctify us through our Young Adult ministry in the years to come! May the Lord be with you always!

Quote from saints...
Turn yourself round like a piece of clay and say to the Lord: I am clay, and you, Lord, the potter. Make of me what you will.

Camping enthusiasts, here's a social event coming up in September 2013!
For those of interest: The annual L . I . N . C . – Louisville, Indianapolis, Nashville, Columbus and Cincinnati camping trip is the weekend of September 13-15th. Last year was a blast and had a fun time meeting new people around the Tri-state area/region that I plan on doing it again unless otherwise.
