Our artistry of our modified coat of arms was done by Michael Creager of Springfield, OH.
As I shared with him how I envisioned our group, he created this beautiful photo of the Phoenix at the background or right behind the Coat of Arms. The phoenix represents us, rising from the ashes into new life with Christ as Our Lord and Savior.
The division of the coat or arms represents what the words - Via, Veritas et Vita stands for -
The Way - represented in the upper left hand corner - shows a pathway in the field towards the cross on top of the hill.
The Truth - represented in the upper right hand corner - shows an open book, which is the Bible. It has the characters - Alpha and Omega, the first and last letters of the Greek Alphabet.
The Light - represented in the lower left hand corner, shows the Paschal Candle lit during the Easter Vigil with a dove at flight, symbol of the Holy Spirit.
The Coat of Arms of the Diocese - represented in the lower right hand corner shows the Santa Maria which Christopher Columbus sailed on to the Americas as we all belong to the Diocese of Columbus.
